Bardic Tools Update - October 2025

Gooooooooooooooooooo--

See, here's the thing about the English language. Until you get to the end of that word, you don't know whether you should pronounce it as a very long "Go", or a very long "Good". Isn't that weird?

This and other intrusive thoughts, courtesy of my brain.

Hey folks. I'm Borja, and I'm so sorry for that.

Let's get into the Bardic Tools updates!

More Scenes!

We have added so much new content to The Library. And I say "we", because as usual Kris (from Kris' Compendium of Trade Goods) has been helping me tons by making wonderful scenes and finding mind-blowing new authors. Here are his two latest creations:

They both feature amazing music by new artists, Alexandr Zhelanov and Julian Shanahan, and it slaps. But my favourite part is not the music. In fact, I think these scenes should be played without the music most of the time, so that your players feel that deep unease that comes from walking across a very hostile place that definitely wants to kill you, but you just don't know how (yet).

Like, listen to these sounds:

This by itself is better than any music at making your players' hairs tingle.

But that's not all!

No, sir!

We've also added more than 40 (yes, 40!) new sounds to The Library. That brings us over 400 sounds in total! 🎉🥳🍻🎊🎉🎉🎉

Check them out now in the "New" tab:

The new sounds for Bardic Tools - They don't even fit!

They come in mainly two flavours:

Sounds of combat

Swords clashing, arrows whooshing, catapults... thumping? People grunting. That sort of thing. I added more than a dozen new one-shot sounds of combat, and two awesome, perfectly looping, endlessly listenable 2-minute ambiances for your games. Have a listen:

Icky Monsters

The other category is... hard to describe, other than with the word "icky", or perhaps "ugh, really?". That's right, we have disgusting monster sounds to make your players suffer. Because we both know that making your players suffer is the first priority. Don't worry, they love it.

Have a listen (at your peril):

Ew. Gross. I love it.

"But Borja," I hear you ask. "Why did you focus on these two categories specifically?"

Well...

It's because of the new features

That's right! It's because of a new feature I released last month: The "Request Content" button. Can you guess what it does?

No, it's not ice cream. You click it, and then you can tell me which sounds you'd like to have added to The Library :D

You can find it here:

I want The Library to be as awesome as possible for you, so I figured: What better way than to actually ask you want you want, and then, like, add it?

Ground-breaking product development tips right there. I'll be honest, I have no idea why it took me this long to add it.

Anyway!

This month's sounds have been suggested by these wonderful people:

  • Aiden, via a very kind email that I will cherish forever.
  • Discord user @Zenification, via the button.
  • Bardic Tools user David, via the button.

Thank you folks so much! Keep pressing that button with ideas!

But that's not all the new features

That's right! It's not even the biggest feature!

The biggest feature is...

Drumroll please...

Saving scenes to The Library!

That's right, everybody (including me) was asking for it, and I finally got enough time to implement it properly. No more 20-scene boards, unless that's your jam.

You can now store your scenes into The Library, so that you only need the board for scenes you're using right now. Here's a quick demo:

... did you notice that? How you can now change the background image of a scene too?

I know, I know, you should be able to update the background of a scene from the board as well. I'm working on it :)

That, and the ability to tag your scenes. That way, you'll be able to classify them by campaign, mood, number of orcs, or whatever you want!

Before trying this feature, you should read the full documentation.

Thank you Elliott from It's Your Role (funniest live D&D show in London, and they have a podcast!) for the initial idea, and Discord users @Kris and @Harry (and many more) who've re-iterated the need for this feature enough that it went through my thick skull and schedule.

Personal Update

I'll be brief.

I'm out of one of the two freelancing contracts I was working this month. That means I'll only be working on one thing that is not Bardic Tools for the next couple of months. Yay!

That should mean more features and more cool stuff coming. Double yay!

Done. See? Brief.

Have a wonderful rest of your day, and thank you so much for reading.
